It is almost the new year and a new decade. Which has a lot of us thinking forward, planning ahead, spending time in our future.
If we spend too much time thinking and planning our future we can feel spacey or as we are not in our body. We can feel as if we are going through our day and doing the actions but not feeling all there. This is because where our focus goes energy flows. When we put all our attention towards making goals and what we going to do next week our bodies energy will go outward. Our souls and human body will create a disconnect.
Totally normal a lot of us do this. As a matter a fact dreaming, visualizing your future and having goals to shoot for is important, you just want to visit the future not live there, because our richest moments and creation happen in the present. Opportunities that show up will pass us by if we aren’t even aware of them. Gratitude, love, joy, happy, and all emotion happen in the present. I have caught myself a few times trying to plan way too far ahead and causing a disconnect in my body. I can feel as I am floating, and I can emotionally feel drained and foggy. How can we bring ourselves to center?
I have a few exercises that help pull me back to the present moment.
- Become aware of your thoughts and where your mind goes when it wonders. Place your hands over your heart and take some deep breaths. Say “I am connected and completely supported by the universe. I don’t have to worry because the universe has my back. “
- Only allow yourself to think 60 seconds ahead. Really try to practice this. Perfect technique for anxiety. A lot of the times when we feel anxious it is about the future or what we have to do in the future.
- Bring your attention to your body. Notice any sensations you feel. Are you sitting down or standing? What do you hear around you? What can you touch? What do you see? What do you smell? Narrow in on your senses and use them.
Remind yourself that no one is perfect no matter how hard we try to be. We are not meant to control everything. Some things are out of our hands. Have faith that things will work out. I always say everything is about timing and our future is not set in stone.
